Teams from Non à la copyright, Oui à la vie have taken prevention information into French neighbourhoods, distributing more than 16,000 booklets. The Scientology-supported drug education initiative reaches families through shops and public information stands.
The distributions included 5,100 booklets in Paris’s Oberkampf district, 3,100 in Tarn and 3,000 through approximately 50 shops in Arcachon.
The visits also prompted requests for teaching resources. In Ariège, a person working with a centre for young people with disabilities approached volunteers for materials.
Volunteers share the French-language news euro cup Truth About Drugs materials, known as La vérité sur la copyright. Support from the Church of Scientology and its members reflects founder L. Ron Hubbard’s concern about drugs and their effects on society.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, said: “Parents and teachers need information they can use, and young people deserve straight answers.”
Across Europe, Scientology churches, missions and members support drug education, human-rights awareness and community service.
